When ceria is used as a stabilizer, it can produce dense zirconia ceramics with a density of 6.2 G/CM3. Because of its good wear resistance and high density, it mainly produces abrasive media, especially high viscosity compounds and paints. High density also permits the generation of smaller grinding media, which greatly improves grinding efficiency and reduces grinding time. The wear resistance, fracture toughness and mechanical strength of cerium stabilized zirconia are similar to those of yttrium stabilized zirconia. The cerium stabilized zirconia ceramics products were prepared by titration and calcination. The micro-structure is more delicate and the density is higher. It is suitable for the dispersion and grinding of high solid content and refractory materials.
