They can work stably to 2400 ° C under the protection of an oxidizing atmosphere or nitrogen; zirconia decomposes in a reducing atmosphere and volatilizes in the form of magnesium metal. A large amount of volatilization begins in a vacuum at 1600 ° C ; Fe, Zn, Pb, Cu, M and other metals do not reduce it. Zirconia ceramics can be used as crucibles for smelting metals. It is also suitable for smelting high-purity uranium and thorium in the atomic energy industry. It can also be used as a thermocouple protective sleeve, that is, zirconia ceramics. Use it to make electromagnetic waves pass through, for radome and infrared radiation transmission window materials. However, it should be noted that zirconia ceramics need to be washed with ultrasonic waves. Zirconia ceramics are a wide range of ceramics.
